Bhubaneswar, Jun 10:
Odisha unit of Congress today observed ‘Dhikkar Divas’ across all district headquarters and blocks of the state to highlight the failure of the State and the Union Government.
The party took out rallies, held demonstrations and attempted to gherao block offices in many places including Bhubaneswar. It took up key issues such as price rise, NFSA irregularity, lack of irrigation facilities, and mistreatment to Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly during the rallies.
More than 1,000 Congress supporters led by PCC President Prasad Harichandan attempted to enter inside Bhubaneswar block office; however, their attempt was foiled by the security personnel present on the scene.
“Today we held demonstrations in all 314 blocks of the state to highlight the failure of the State and the Center. The ruling party MLAs and MPs are involved in various scams including the chit fund scam, mining scam, irregularities in plot and land allotment under discretionary quota, NFSA irregularities etc but the government is trying to cover them up. We are taking these issues to the public,” said Odisha Congress Spokesperson Sulochana Das.
“The State Government has become egoistic because of its brute majority in the Assembly. They are not allowing the House to function and have disrespected the Leader of Opposition. We are creating awareness among the public on these issues. We are hopeful that the people of the state will give a befitting reply to the government in the coming days,” she added.
