Bhubaneswar, Sep 12:
Rejecting outright the RDC probe ordered by Odisha government into the police firing at Chandpur in Nayagarh district, the Congress today demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident, which claimed the life of a young man.
PCC president Jayadev Jena, who visited the village along with some party leaders, condemned the police firing describing it as a “brutal and undemocratic” act.
“A high-level judicial inquiry must be ordered into the police firing on innocent people who had gathered in their bid to get justice at Chandpur yesterday,” said Jena.
Jena said that it was a high-handed and brutal act on the part of the police to open fire on villagers, who were demanding the arrest of culprits involved in the murder of four members of a family on Saturday.
