New Delhi, June 9 :
The AICC general secretary BK Hariprasad who is also in-charge of the Odisha unit of the party has been re-nominated by the party highcommand to contest the Rajya Sabha election from Karnataka.
“10 Janpath continues to stick to the its hardcore loyalists irrespective of how they perform or what their real worth is. This is the reason why the party has had to face such a humiliating defeat across the country,” a senior Congress leader unhappy with the goings on in the party told OST.
Incidentally, most senior leaders in Odisha Congress hold Hariprasad partly responsible for the party’s miserable performance in the state. He has also been severely criticised for his disappearance act during the election campaign.
The Congress also nominated M.V. Rajeev Gowda, a 50-year-old professor at the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore, for the other Rajya Sabha seat from Karnataka.
“The high command preferred to nominate Gowda over former external affairs minister and outgoing lawmaker S.M. Krishna along with the re-nomination of party general secretary B.K. Hariprasad for the upper house elections from the state,” the party’s state unit president G. Parameshwar told IANS in Banaglore.
