Baripada: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, during his one-day visit to Mayurbhanj today, made four big announcements for development of Baripada Town.
Addressing a Mission Shakti conclave at Chhau Padia here, CM Naveen assured to revive the Urban Cooperative Bank here, the license of which was cancelled by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for financial crisis in 2014.
The State Government will provide funds for revival of the bank and hold discussion with the Centre in this regard, Patnaik added.
Besides, he announced construction of a ring road in the town for tackling flood situation and establishment of a research centre for Chhau Nrutya, a folk dance form. Patnaik also promised that the Mayurbhanj Ayurved Mahavidyalaya will be developed into a Government college.
On the occasion, he provided Rs 15,000 to 20,295 Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) as seed money. Besides, he gave away financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh for 26 block-level federations in the district. This apart, the CM provided Rs 3,000 for 39,418 women SHGs for digital empowerment of the women under the Mission Shakti programme.
Besides, the CM also inaugurated 11 welfare projects, including a high-level bridge over Champa river on State Highway-19 in Baripada and a 50-bed maternity and child care unit at Udala Sub-divisional hospital. He also laid foundation stones for six developmental projects in the district.
