Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik welcomed the verdict of the Supreme Court on Aadhar scheme, which provides constitutional validity to the Centre’s flagship scheme with some modifications.
Taking to Twitter, Naveen said the verdict retains the intrinsic value of the scheme while addressing concerns about infringement on privacy.
Welcome #AadharVerdict for it retains the intrinsic value of the scheme while addressing concerns about infringement on privacy. Verdict ensures inclusion of every beneficiary while making many services non-mandatory. Hoping for greater efficiency in public service delivery.

Earlier in the day, the apex court’s five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra said Aadhaar is meant to help benefits reach marginalised sections of society and takes into account the dignity of people not only from the personal but also from the community point of view.
The top court said Aadhaar serves a bigger public interest. Aadhaar means unique and it is better to be unique than be the best, it said.
