Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate the move to ensure one-third reservation for women in Parliament and state legislatures.

“I request you to take the leadership in initiating necessary steps for passing the Bill for reservation of one-third of seats in Parliament and State Legislatures for women,” said the Chief Minister in a letter to the Prime Minister.

He assured full support from the state government for providing women their rightful place in the decision-making process.

Patnaik said taking the historic decision to empower women in the country would be the finest tribute to the father of the nation on his 150th birth anniversary.

“Empowerment of women is the empowerment of the nation. No household, no society, no state, no country has ever moved forward without empowering its women. The principle of gender equality is enshrined in our Constitution. The country will move forward with much greater momentum only if the other half of our population, our mothers, sisters and daughters, have a role in the highest decision making bodies of our states and our country,” he added.

The winter session of the state assembly has adopted a unanimous resolution to provide for one-third reservation to women in Parliament as well as the state legislatures.

In 2011, the Odisha government enhanced the reservation for women in Panchayats and urban local bodies to 50 per cent.

  1. Our Honourable Chief Minister Shri.Naveen Patnaik’s proposal for reservation of women parliamentarians is a good decision.
Our Honourable Member of Parliament Shri.Soumya Ranjan Patnaik’s Agitation against Alcoholism is also a good idea.
To restructure the Salaries of Employees Adding Alcohol Expenditure on Fixed Ration basis will increase the Standard of living of Employees and It helps in Revision of our State Government Budget and simultaneously we have to demand more money from Central Government.
During the Christmas season many people drink wine and Liquor and hence suitable Timing for Sale and Consumption of Wine Should be implemented.
No Sale of Wine and Liquor after 5 PM system will regulate the Drunken driving Offenses.
During the Christmas season wine and Liquor sales are very high in every State and hence producing Raw materials for Wine and Liquor manufacturing will improve the Standard of living of the Farmers.
In US and in Europe Beer,Wine and Liquor manufacturing tyne units are doing Scientific manufacturing of Beer and Liquor.
In some tourism developed Places Wine and Liquor is available in very small Hotels and serving very limited Quality to Customers every day.
But one thing is true that Alcoholism is a Bad thing in Society and It should be banned in unsystematic societies where criminals are living.
