Bhubaneswar: Emphasizing on the quality of midday meals served in the schools run by School & Mass Education and ST & SC departments, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at a high-level review meeting at the state secretariat here today directed officials to strengthen monitoring mechanism to check the quality of midday meals.
Besides, Patnaik directed officials assigned with quality checking of midday meals to visit each and every school this month and check the quality of midday meals served to students.
The Chief Minister asked departmental officials to ensure hot food is served to students in schools.
Departmental officials were advised by the Chief Minister to make sure that not a single student is deprived of various facilities provided by the government.
Similarly, officials were asked by Patnaik to ensure proper and timely distribution of textbooks to students and submit a report by the end of the current month.
Besides, Chief Minister directed officials to finish distribution of two sets of uniform to students within the next one month and provide bicycles to all eligible students by the 15th of August.
Notably, the state government is providing bicycles to all students from class IX onwards. The state government has spent Rs 285 crore on this account and about 10 lakh students have benefited. The scheme has resulted in the enrollment of more students in schools and a drop in the dropout rate.
