Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today made a surprise visit to the under-construction Bhubaneswar Operation Centre (BOC), the Intelligent City Operations and Management Centre being constructed at the 5th floor of BMC-Bhawani Mall in Saheed Nagar here to review the progress of the centre.
Sources said that the control room will start functioning within three weeks.
The Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) operates from the same building in the second floor. The chief minister was accompanied by senior officials of the BMC, BDA, BSCL and other city agencies.
According to sources, the integrated command and control centre, named Bhubaneswar Operations Centre (BOC), would be the biggest among all cities across the nation.
The first of its kind centralized command control centre will monitor, operate, and control existing services of the city. The command centre will keep an eye on several functions like traffic management, incident management, city surveillance, emergency services, disaster management and much more. Various external modules shall also be integrated into the system to provide real-time decision support.
The construction work for the upcoming centre is nearing completion and shall be inaugurated soon.
This state-of-art centre includes a massive video wall of more than 100-foot length (with 16×2 configuration of 70-inch panels) and shall be used to monitor traffic management, the large volume of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, sophisticated sensor data, emergency services, etc.
This centre will provide a digital platform for integrating multiple city sub-systems of Traffic Management, Parking, Public Transport, and Common Payment Card along with Effective Emergency Response Management to meet any untoward incident in the city.
