Like previous years, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today visited the Sri Jagannath temple here to seek blessings of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra on New Year day.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid obeisance to the Lords amid tight security arrangements.
After seeking blessings, Chief Minister inspected the repair works of Jagamohana, the hall facing the sanctum sanctorum, from the Jay Vijay Dwar.
Sri Jagannath Temple Chief Administrator apprised Chief Minister of the Jagamohana repair.
Ahead of Patnaik’s visit, 44 platoons of police personnel were deployed at various places in the town.
After offering prayer at the temple, the Chief Minister is slated to visit the memorial of his father and former Chief Minister of Odisha Biju Patnaik at Swargadwar to pay his tribute.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister greeted people on the New Year.
“Heartiest greetings and best wishes to everyone for a joyous, peaceful and healthy New Year 2017. As we look back and reflect on the past year, we can take satisfaction in the noteworthy accomplishments in our State’s development and progress as well as the positive impact of our efforts leading to betterment of lives of people. But this is not the end of journey yet. We have to be untiring and relentless in the pursuit of our goals of a developed, prosperous and empowered Odisha,” Patnaik said.
“This New Year only strengthens my resolve to work harder and more committedly to continue the momentum and take our State on the higher growth trajectory. May the beginning of 2017 instill fresh energy, determination and dedication in all of us to perform our responsibilities ably for progress and prosperity of our State. I once again wish you all a Very Happy New Year 2017,” he concluded.
