Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik mourned the death of Odia CRPF jawan in a Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.

The mortal remains of martyred jawan, Braja Mohan Behera, were brought to the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar by a special aircraft this afternoon. He was given a guard of honour at the airport.

“His courage and determination binds us stronger today in the battle of against extremism. My condolences to the martyr’s family,” Naveen tweeted.

State Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera and other police officers paid tribute to the martyr.

Later, Behera’s body was taken to his ancestral village Balarampur in Ghasipura block in Keonjhar district. Seeing his body, hundreds of villagers, including his family members were crying inconsolably.

A pall of gloom descended over the martyr’s village.

Behera was one among the four who were killed when their vehicle was blown up by Maoists by using IED near Murdanda camp at Bijapur district on Saturday evening.

He had joined the reserve force in 1996. He was posted to 168th Battalion at Bijapur in Chhattisgarh.
