Hours before leaving on a five-day visit to New Delhi, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today went on a ribbon-cutting spree during which he laid the foundation station of Mahanadi Campus–the second campus of Ravenshaw University among three others.
Spread over an area of 120 acres, the extension of the varsity would come up at Sector 13 of the satellite city in the CDA area.
The campus would ease pressure on the main campus which is providing academic services to over 8, 000 students. The new campus would be used for professional education and the existing one would be offering the regular courses, sources said.
Notably, the state government had allocated the land for the new campus in 2010. Besides, the chief minister had announced a grant of Rs 30 crore for the project as against the initial demand of Rs 300 crore during the annual function of the University Students’ Union function.
This apart, the chief minister laid foundation stones and dedicated to public several development and welfare schemes, including four projects of the health department.
While inaugurating the Swasthya Bhawan and a new building of Dental wing of S C B Medical College and Hospital, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones for two urban Community Health Centres in Sector 7 the city.
He also inaugurated the building of the Centre for Finishing Skills and Entrepreneurship developed by Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTET) and dedicated a road to public constructed by Public Works Department (PWD) connecting Sector 6 and Sector 10.
