Bhubaneswar, Nov 28:
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has not attended his grievance cell in the past six years even though the cell continues to invite huge number of complaints every day !
“The Chief Minister had attended the Grievance Cell for the last time on August 16 2008,” said Public Grievances and Pension Administration Minister Jogendra Behera to Odisha Assembly while replying a written question of BJP MLA Dilip Ray on Thursday.
The minister, however, added that the cell is fully functional and action was being taken by officials on the grievances of the people. Grievances are received on all working days and hearings of petitions are made every Monday, he added.
Behera admitted that the government was aware about agents bringing people to the grievance cell by giving them false assurance. The government had asked district collectors and SPs to take action in this regard and issued advertisements in newspapers to make people aware of their rights. Two middlemen have been handed over to the police so far, he informed.
It may be noted that the chief minister’s grievance cell has received as many as 79, 862 petitions from the public till November 17.
