Emphasizing timely release of loans to farmers at the time of their need, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today asked the Cooperation department to prepare a road map for implementation of an appropriate monitoring mechanism for granting loans to farmers.
Chairing an annual review meeting of the Cooperation department, the Chief Minister stressed the completion of concrete threshing yards in villages having a population of 5,000 by 2017.
Patnaik advised departmental officers to make Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACSs) as the one=stop destination for all facilities available to the farmers.
The Chief Minister directed the department to make available financial assistance, benefits, payment for paddy procured etc. through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to their bank accounts within a definite timeframe.
Patnaik asked the departmental officers to upgrade PACSs and mandis using available resources and submit a report within one month. He also asked the officers to prepare a road map for computerisation of agricultural cooperative societies.
