Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated 100 drinking water projects, 20 citi bus services and eight Aahar centres to the people of the state in a special function organised at the Secretariat here.


“Today three important services—namely 100 new piped water projects, eight new Aahar Kendras and 20 citi bus services for Koraput, Sunabeda and Jeypore cluster were dedicated. This reflects my government’s commitment for the development of urban infrastructure and inclusive growth of the urban areas,” said Patnaik speaking to reporters.

“The Chief Minister today inaugurated 100 piped drinking water projects across 46 urban areas. Besides, the citi bus services also started in the tribal areas of Koraput, Sunabeda and Jeypore. Further, eight new Aahar centres were also dedicated to the people,” said Housing & Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singh Deo.

The drinking water projects will benefits residents of 46 urban areas spread across 21 districts. The Chief Minister, earlier on April 20, had dedicated another 100 such drinking water projects in urban areas.

With the addition of eight new Aahar centres, the total number of Aahar centres in the state went up to 110 and Rs 5 meal scheme now covers all 30 districts of the state. The new centres have come up at Udala, Karanjia, Anandpur, Nilgiri, Chandikhol, Kamakshyanagar, Pattamundai and Konark.
