Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday asked the district collectors to give top priority to the implementation of rural housing schemes.
The chief minister, in a videoconferencing at the State Secretariat here, directed the collectors to meet the target of the Indira Aways Yojana (IAY) and Biju Pucca Ghara Yojana (BPGY) within specified time frame through proper monitoring.
Stating that the state government had set a target to convert 30 lakh kutcha houses to pucca houses by 2018-19, Patnaik told the collectors that the while the state government had made a budgetary allocation of Rs 330 crore for BPGY in the current fiscal, efforts are on to make more budgetary provisions for the scheme.
Asking the collectors to conduct a fortnightly review meeting on the progress of the work, he said the concerned department will have a review meeting every month.
He also informed the collectors that he will have another videoconferencing with them onDecember 22.
Among others, Panchayati Raj minister Arun Sahu, Development Commissioner AP Padhi, Panchayati Raj secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh and senior officials of the concerned department were present at the meeting.
