Bhubaneswar, Jun 11:
Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik will be on a five-day tour to New Delhi beginning Thursday.
Sources in the chief minister’s office (CMO) said Patnaik will leave for the national capital after presiding over a meeting of the State Cabinet here.
Though there was no official word on the purpose of the visit or the agenda of the chief minister while in the national capital. But sources said he is scheduled to meet ‘some’ Union ministers without clarifying who these ministers were.
This just goes to show that meeting ‘some’ Union ministers is not the purpose of the visit, but an afterthought to justify the visit.
He will return to the state on June 15, the sources added.
The chief minister’s Delhi sojourns have become more frequent – and longer – in his fourth term. At least in the last two visits, he did not have enough on his plate to justify his long absence from Bhubaneswar.
During the budget session of the Assembly in March this year, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra had wondered aloud whose interest the chief minister was serving during his Delhi visits.
