Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved Rs 1 crore towards treatment expenses of conjoined twins at head.
The assistance will be provided from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) and will be sent to the New Delhi-based AIIMS Director.
The twins – Honey and Singh – fused at cranium are currently admitted to the AIIMS as they would undergo the cost-intensive surgery to separate them.
A team of doctors treating the duo are of the opinion that expert advice from specialists from abroad might be needed.
The mother of the Siamese twins Puspanjali Kanhar had urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for financial assistance. Following this, the state government had announced to foot the treatment expenses.
The father of the two-year-old twins is a daily wage earner and had expressed his inability to go for the expensive treatment. They hail from remote Milupada village under Phiringia police station limits in Kandhamal district.
