Bhubaneswar, June 6:
The meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Odisha to elect the leader of opposition has been deferred by one day. Originally scheduled for June 10, it will now be held on June 11.
The newly elected Congress MLAs will decide their leader at a meeting here to be attended by AICC leader Ajay Maken, who has been appointed as observer for the election.
“The meeting has been deferred by one day due to some reasons. It will be attended by Congress general secretary BK Hariprasad and Maken. Besides, secretary Subhankar Sarkar will be visiting the state on June 11,” PCC President Jaydev Jena said.
The Congress has only 16 MLAs in the 147-member Odisha Legislative Assembly while the number of BJD and BJP have 117 and 10 MLAs respectively.
Senior Congress leader Narsingh Mishra is likely to be elected as the leader of opposition in Odisha Assembly.
