The Odisha Civil Service (OCS) Main examinations conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) began in the state today.
A total of 5823 candidates, who had cleared the preliminary examinations, are appearing the examinations that would continue till September 30.
The candidates were allowed for appear for the Main examinations by the Odisha High Court after it rejected a petition filed by Priyambada Das and others yesterday, which had urged the Court to recall its Wednesday’s order allowing some unsuccessful candidates to appear for the Main examinations.
The petitioners had submitted that the candidates, who had challenged the Preliminary results of the examinations, were allowed to sit for the Main examinations.
They had also alleged that since several candidates could not quality the preliminary test due to faulty system of awarding grace marks in certain subjects, they should also be allowed to appear for the Main examinations.
The court, however, rejected the petition while maintaining that it would not interfere in the examination process.
