Bhubaneswar, Nov 21:
Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) president Pyari Mohan Mohapatra today refused to say what he was questioned about by the CBI.
Emerging out of the CBI office after a four-hour long grilling, Mohapatra said he did not want to speak about what transpired at the interrogation.
“CBI investigation is always secret. If you expect me to tell you what I was asked and what I told them, then obviously you do not know how the CBI’s conducts its investigation,” the Rajya Sabha member said when confronted by media persons.
He did admit, however, that he was questioned face-to-face with Prashant Dash, the CMD of the Seashore group of companies.
Asked about allegations that several top bureaucrats and police officers had palyed a crucial role in facilitating the chit fund scam, the former ‘Magadarshak’ of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) sought to rope in BJD supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
“If the CBI thinks the CM has some facts, I am sure it will summon him for questioning,” he said before leaving the place in a huff.
Mohapatra was grilled by the CBI for a marathon four and half hours. He had appeared before the CBI this morning for interrogation at 10.05 AM and left around 2.30 pm.
This was the first time the former BJD No 2 was questioned by the CBI. He had, however, been questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for over two hours last week.
It may be noted that Mohapatra’s residence at A/111, Shahid Nagar here was raided by the central probe agency on Tuesday and a number of documents, including his bank accounts and those of his party, were seized.
