Bhubaneswar, Nov 21:
Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) president Pyari Mohan Mohapatra appeared before the CBI this morning for interrogation in connecetion with the mega chit fund scam in the state.
Mohapatra reached the CBI office here at about 10 am today and was still being interrogated at the time of filing this report. He is being questioned about his links with the Seashore group CMD Prashant Dash, sources said.
This is the first time the former BJD No 2 is being questioned by the CBI. He had, however, been questioned by the Enfrocement Directorate (ED) for over two hours last week.
It may be noted that Mohapatra’s residence at A/111, Shahid Nagar here was raided by the central probe agency on Tuesday and a number of documents, including his bank accounts and those of his party, were seized.
Mohapatra, who was once the second most powerful in the state after chief minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, has been accused of promoting the interests of the Seashore group.
The Rajya Sabha member, however, has denied the allegations and has said his relationship with Dash was limited to facilitating the signing of a MoU between the Seashore and the state owned APICOL for setting up of a maize processing plant in Nabarangpur district. “I have met Prashant Dash only twice,” he had claimed.
