The Orissa High Court today rejected the bail plea of businessman and proprietor of Odia daily ‘Odisha Bhaskar’ Madhu Mohanty, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged links with the Ponzi firm Artha Tatwa (AT) Group.
Mohanty has been in jail since the CBI arrested him on September 14 after several rounds of interrogation.
Notably, the High Court had also rejected Mohanty’s bail application earlier in December, 2014.
In a related development, the High Court also rejected the interim bail plea of Mayurbhanj MP Ramachandra Hansda.
Hansda, who is presently lodged in the Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar for his alleged links with Nabadiganta Capital Services Pvt Ltd, a major player in the Odisha chit fund scam, was suspended from the BJD since his arrest.
