The CBI will produce the two businessmen – Vineet Lalani and Dillip Mohanty – it arrested yesterday for their alleged links with Artha Tatwa (AT) Group, a major player in the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha, before the special Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court here today, sources said.
The CBI will move the court to take them on remand for further interrogations. However, it’s not yet clear how many days it will seek to take them on remand for.
Both have been charged by the CBI for criminal conspiracy by joining hands with AT Group CMD Pradeep Kumar Sethy, said sources.
While Mohanty, a Congress leader and real estate developer, has obtained a flat from AT Group CMD Sethy, Lalani, also a real estate businessman, has taken huge amounts of money from Sethy through his employees, the CBI has found during their interrogations, said sources.
Both Lalani and Mohanty were medically examined at the Capital Hospital here today in the morning.
In his reactions to the media Mohanty said, “I have done no wrong. I am no way connected wit the scam.”
