Bismay Mohapatra, a director in Orison Overseas Limited, today appeared before the CBI for interrogation in connection with the Odisha Premier League (OPL), the 20-20 event modelled on the Indian Ppremier League (IPL), which CBI suspects was fuelled by money generated by the mega chit fund scam in the state.
Mohapatra, who owned two teams in the League – Puri Emperors and Bhubaneswar Jaguars – was grilled by CBI sleuths for about half an hour in the afternoon.
Two other directors of Orison – Dilip Mohanty and Vineet Lalani – have already been arrested by the cenral investigation agency for their alleged role in the mega chit fund scam in the state.
Honorary secretary of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) and other officials have already faced several rounds of interrogation on the organisation of OPL, which had the atainted Aartha Tatwa (AT) group as its sponsor. AT group had paid Rs 1 crore to OCA towards sponsorship.
