Bhubaneswar, Oct 26:
BJD MP from Mayurbhanj Ramachandra Hansda is being questioned by the CBI, which is probing the mega Odisha chit fund scam, for the second time in three days today.
Hansda, who had been grilled for four hours on Friday, reached the CBI office a short while ago and was immediately closeted with officers of the central agency. He was accompanied by former BJP MLA from Nuapada Hitesh Bagarti.
Shortly thereafter, former BJD MLA from Keonjhar Subarna Nayak arrived at the CBI office on a bike. All three of them have had close links with Nabadiganta in the past.
Though there is no official word on the line of questioning, sources said Hansda is being asked about his connections with the Nabadiganta Capital Services, a chit fund company in which he was once a director.
The BJD MP may also be questioned about the Rs 28 lakh worth of cash seized by the CBI from his Rairangpur residence during the raid in July. Hansda has claimed that it was his ‘own money’ that he had kept for renovation of his house.
The Managing Director of the company Anjan Kumar Baliarsingh and two of its directors – Kartikeya Parida and Pradeep Patnaik – were already closeted with CBI officials when Hansda reached the CBI office here.
Former Advocate General Ashok Mohanty also presented himself at the CBI office today as per the conditions imposed by the district and sessions court here while granting him bail.
