Bhubaneswar, Jan 13:
A day after Biju Janata Dal alleged that the CBI raids at several of its party leader’s houses are politically motivated, BJP veteran Bijoy Mohapatra today broke party ranks and accused that the CBI enquiry in the state has not been neutral.
“CBI is not conducting a neutral investigation here in Odisha (into the chit fund scam). Investigation delayed means evidence destroyed. What evidence are they going to get after three years? They are making one mistake after another. That leads to doubts in the minds of the public,” said Mohapatra.
“CBI neither has any morality nor has any sincerity. They are just playing around since last three years. Who stopped them to arrest people whom they raided? Why are they doing it today? The chit fund investigations would have long been over, had they done it properly,” he added.
BJP distanced itself from Mohapatra’s remarks.
“CBI is doing its investigation based on its time-frame, skills, resources and style. Making comments or politicising it will hamper the investigations. I would suggest everyone – irrespective of party lines – to refrain from making such statements,” said Odisha BJP General Secretary Prithiviraj Harichandan.
Biju Janata Dal, meanwhile, held a demonstration in Balasore citing that the raids are politically motivated.
“The raids being conducted after a two and half year gap gives rise to many questions. It is obvious that they are politically motivated. It is a malicious attempt to frame the government and the chief minister,” said BJD Spokesperson Shashi Bhusan Behera.
