Bhubaneswar, Oct 27:
The special CBI court here today allowed the CBI to take the chairman-cum-managing director and two directors of the Ponzi firm Nabadiganta Financial Services, who were arrested yesterday by the central agency in connection with the mega Odisha chit fund scam, on six days’ remand.
The CBI had sought permission of the court to take the three arrested executives of the company on remand for ten days.
Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of Nabadiganta Capital Services Anjan Kumar Baliarsingh and two directors of the company – Kartikeya Parida and Pradeep Patnaik – were arrested by the CBI on Sunday.
They were arrested late on Sunday evening after sustained interrogation at the CBI office here since morning. The CBI interrogated them on Sunday for the second time in three days.
While being taken away by the CBI after the court verdict, Baliarsingh told media persons that three politicians interrogated by the agency yesterday – BJD MP from Mayurbhanj Ramachandra Hansda, former BJD MLA from Keonjhar Kartikeya Parida and former BJP MLA from Khariar Hitesh Bagarti – were ‘involved’ in the dealings of the company.
However, there was no word from the CBI on whether any of the three politicians would be taken into custody by the central agency.
