The Odisha Crime Branch (CB) filed charge sheet against five suspected terrorists belonging to Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), who were arrested from here in February this year, at the Rourkela SDJM court, reports said today.
Notably, four SIMI operatives and a woman were arrested from Nala Road under Plant Site police station in Rourkela on February 16 night.
Rourkela police, Special Operations Group (SOG), Telengana Police, state Special Tactical Unit and Intelligence Bureau had arrested the five in a joint multi-agency operation after exchange of fire.
The four natives of Madhya Pradesh, wanted by National Investigation Agency (NIA), were allegedly involved in 17 terror activities around the country including Bijnor bomb blasts, inciting communal hatred, bank robberies and murder of police officials. They were also involved in a bank robbery in Sundargarh. They had escaped from Khandwa Jail in Madhya Pradesh in 2013.
After their arrest, the National Investigation Agency and Crime Branch had taken them on remand for interrogation.
