Odisha capital will soon have a ‘Central Institute of Classical Odia’, informed Manoranjan Panigrahi, secretary department of Culture.
Panigrahi said this Central institute will promote Odia language and create opportunities for research.
A proposal in this regard has been made by the Central government after Odia was accorded classical language status, Panigrahi said while participating at a workshop titled ‘National Consultative Workshop on Classical Odia Language’ organized by Odisha Sahitya Akademi here on Saturday.
A letter has been already written to the state government to allocate land for the Central institute, he added.
While an Odia chair outside Odisha is being established at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), in the future similar chairs will be established at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Delhi University (DU), the secretary informed.
Also similar chairs will be established at F M University, Sambalpur University and Berhampur University in Odisha, he added.
