Security arrangements have been reinforced at BPIA and additional CISF personnel have been deployed to guard against any untoward incident, airport sources said.

“Alert has been issued and additional CISF personnel have been deployed to avoid any eventuality. Security personnel have been instructed to enhance their alertness. We are getting full cooperation from state police too. We intend to make it more stringent so that no such incident takes place. We urge the public to be on alert and inform the airport authorities in case they find any suspicious object or movement,” BPIA Director, Sharad Kumar informed.

Security and immigration checking at the airport have been tightened in the light of the terrorist attack on the defence base.

Meanwhile, high alert has been issued at national capital, Jammu&Kashmir and other major cities following the attack on the Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Pathankot town of north Punjab in the wee hours today.

Following the attack, Pathankot-Jammu national highway has been sealed to check movement on and around the national highway.
