Bhubaneswar: In view of inadequate number of students appearing Plus Two examinations-2018, the authorities canceled six examination centres reducing the number to 1,104 from 1,110.

The number of centres has been minimized to 1,104 from 1,110 due to insufficient number of students for the upcoming intermediate level examinations in Odisha, informed the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) here on Monday.

The authorities at second meeting of examination managing committee had decided to conduct the Plus Two examinations scheduled from March 6 at 1,110 centres in Odisha, increasing three more centres expecting more number of candidates this year.

Last year, the annual Plus Two examinations in Arts, Science, and Commerce and Vocational courses were held at 1,107 centres.

But, six centres were canceled due to inadequate number of students as compared to last year filled the application form for the examinations in various streams, sources said.

However, there has been no change in examination managing hub. As per the decision, there will be 202 examination hubs where the question papers and answer sheets will be kept. The question papers will be sent to all the examination centres amidst tight security in the morning of examination date.

The evaluation of the examination papers will begin from first week of April soon after completion of theory papers on March 29.

There will be 56 evaluation centres for the papers in the streams of Arts, Science, and Commerce and Vocational courses.

A three-day seminar will be held about evaluation process of the answer sheets at Bhubaneswar from Feb 23-25. The faculties, supervisors, deputy supervisors and zone officers of all the evaluation centres have been asked to attend the seminar.

Notably, the theory papers of annual Plus Two examination for all the streams are scheduled to begin from March 6 till 29. The practical examinations of the CHSE Plus Two were held from January 25 till February 5.
