New Delhi: Odisha cadre IAS officer Upendra Prasad Singh will be the next Secretary in the Union Water Resources department.
Upendra Prasad Singh presently holding the charge of Director General, National Mission for Clean Ganga has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation. He will succeed Dr. Amarjit Singh who will superannuate on November 30, 2017, an official release said.
The 1985 batch officer, in November last year, was appointed as the DG in the said department.
The 55-year-old bureaucrat originally hails from Bihar. A mechanical engineer-turned IAS, Singh knows Mizo language, according to the records available with DoPT.
He went on central deputation in 2011 where he worked with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas before moving to the Water Resources ministry.
