Odisha Cabinet today approved a proposal to allow MLAs as heads of state and district planning boards, as well as, Western Odisha Development Council (WODC).
In a Cabinet meeting today a proposal to amend the Office of Profit Act was approved, enabling the legislators to be appointed to different government bodies. Earlier, only ministers could hold such a position.
The Odisha state government will issue an Ordinance to this effect, according to sources.
Five proposals were passed in the cabinet meeting, which was chaired by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
These include a proposal to take over seven police high schools by the state government at a cost of Rs 10.32 lakhs annually in Balasore, Angul, Baripada, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Puri and Rourkela.
Proposed amendment in Transport department clerical staff appointment rules has also received the cabinet stamp today.
The cabinet has also approved the proposal to appoint supervisors of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) through the staff selection commission by giving a nod to Odisha Child and Women Welfare rule amendment.
