Odisha boy turns mega serial writer for popular Hindi channel


Bhubaneswar: Meet the Odisha lad Satyarth Nayak who has gained the rare distinction of becoming the lead writer for a historical series on one of India’s largest private television networks.

Satyarth recently took to social media where he announced about his new assignment.

“Delighted to announce that I have been appointed as a lead writer for Sony’s upcoming mega-budget historical TV series PORUS. Relocating to MUMBAI. Touted as the most expensive show ever produced in India, this magnum opus shall trace the parallel lives of Porus and Alexander, culminating in the legendary Battle of Hydaspes. Mounted on an epic scale, the series is being created by Swastik Productions that gave us grand spectacles like MAHABHARAT (Star Plus), SURYAPUTRA KARNA (Sony), RAZIA SULTAN (&TV) and the current sensation SHANI (Colors),” he wrote.

Worth mentioning, he has worked as a correspondent for NDTV and CNN-News 18, formerly CNN-IBN after post-graduating from St Stephens College, Delhi in English literature.

Besides, he has authored ‘The Emperor’s Riddles’ – a mystery thriller as his debut novel. He is also a recipient of prestigious awards like British Council Writers Circle Prize in 2006 for his short story ‘Eve’. In 2011, two of his works – ‘Music and Lyrics and ‘The Opportunity’ – were picked up for the celebrated Chicken Soup for the Soul series.
