Bhubaneswar, Jul 6:
The week-long Shri Jagannath Sanskruti Surakshya Yatra by the Odisha BJP in protest against the gross deviation in Brahma Parivartan rituals of the idols inside Shri Jagannath temple in Puri will be concluded at Gadakantunia on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar where the daru of Lord Sudarshan was identified.
The 1400-km Yatra had begun from Puri on June 30 and covered Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Baleswar, Mayurbhanj and Nayagarh districts.
Accompanying the Yatra, senior BJD leaders had conducted 85 roadside meetings and drawn the attention of the people on Brahma Parivartan bungling.
“The Yatra would be concluded at Gadakantunia with a meeting. During the Yatra, we had noticed the religious sentiments of the people who severely criticised the state government for breaking the century-old tradition of the temple. Besides, the people are equally concerned over the abrupt silence of the chief minister who, till date, has not opened his mouth. We are not going to remain silent on this sensitive issue. We will take up the issue with the state government after the Nabakalebara”, said BJD leader Bijay Mohapatra.
In his reply, BJD leader Sashi Bhusan Behera said the state government has not remained silent on the incident. Whatever has happened would be known to the people after the investigation.
“While the investigation is underway and while preliminary actions have been taken, the Opposition parties have launched a campaign against the government to create confusion among the people who will not accept them”, Behera said.
