Senior BJP leader and former legislator from Jashipur constituency Bhanu Charan Naik passed away this morning in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
According to reports, the 70-year-old leader breathed his last at Khiching. He was suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure.
The tribal leader was elected to the state Assembly in 2000.
His last rites were performed at his native village Khiching today. People from various walks of life including several BJP leaders attended his funeral.
Naik is survived by his wife Gurubari, two sons and two daughters.
Notably, Naik worked as a mine foreman with SAIL and opted for VRS in August, 1998 to join active politics.
