Bhubaneswar, May 11:
Odisha Assembly today passed the demand of Rs 7247.03 crore for the Water Resources Department in the house amidst ruckus.
The House today continued to witness uproarious scenes like preceding days and was adjourned repeatedly after the all-party meeting called by Speaker Niranjan Pujari today failed to bring any result. Not only opposition Congress and BJP members, but also ruling party MLAs were seen shouting slogans every time the House resumed.
Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra, on the other hand, accused that the government is being vindictive. Immidiately after the House resumed at 3 PM, Mishra mentioned about his questions to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and asked Law Minister Arun Sahu to withdraw the remarks made against him.
The ruling party members, however, started creating ruckus making the Speaker adjourn the House for the day.
“An FIR had been lodged against me in Agalpur block of Bolangir district back in 2002 in a torching incident. Orissa High Court had said that Narasingha Mishra has done no wrong and dismissed the case in 2008. A fresh case was lodged in Bolangir Additional District Session Judge court this April 25, which was dismissed on April 27. This shows how vindictive the government is,” said Mishra speaking to reporters outside the Assembly.
BJD, however, refuted the charge.
“I do not have any particular information pertaining to any old case; however, I understand that he was trying to raise the Justice MM Das issue in the House. That is when our MLA attempted to interrupt him. Besides, if the legal procedures made the administration file a new case, he shouldn’t call it vindictive,” said BJD MLA and Spokesperson Shashi Bhusan Behera.
