The Odisha government today announced a Rs 5 crore assistance for the people of the cyclone-hit Andhra Pradesh.
Expressing deep sympathy for the massive damage caused by the severe cyclonic storm Hudhud, chief minister Naveen Patnaik, said the people of Odisha are with the affected people of Andhra Pradesh at this difficult time.
The Odisha government, which had earlier deployed 28 fire brigade and two Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams to Andhra Pradesh for relief and rescue operations, provided one lakh litres of OMFED milk and linked power supply to the state today.
Meanwhile, the Odisha chief minister today entrusted his ministers to oversee relief and restoration works in the cyclone-hit southern districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Gajapati districts.
As per the directive of the chief minister, the ministers who are the chairpersons of the District Planning Board, would leave for their respective districts tomorrow to take stock of relief and restoration work.
