Sonepur, Sept 23:
Expressing resentment over the failure of the police in nabbing the assailants who had brutally murdered Dr Durbadala Mishra, additional district medical officer (ADMO) of Subarnapur district headquarters hospital on Sunday night, the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) has threatened statewide cease-work.
“It is matter of utter shame that the police are yet to nab the criminals after two days of the brutal incident. We have decided at our general body meeting to launch a statewide cease-work and mass agitation if the culprits are not arrested within 48 hours”, said OMSA president Dr Chandan Gadanayak and secretary Dr Kishore Chandra Mishra at a press briefing here on Monday.
Among others, OMSA vice president of the Association Dr Debi Prasad Mishra, district president Dr Pradip Guru and chief district medical officer (CDMO) Dr Sarat Chandra Majhi were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the body of Dr Mishra has been cremated on Monday after the post mortem.
Though the police have intensified their investigation, they are yet to craget any trace of the murderers
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the assailants had earlier planned to shoot Dr Mishra. But as they failed in their effort, they killed him by slitting his throat open in front of his house.
At least 4-5 assailants had committed the crime, police said.
