Choreographer turned actor Ranjit Pattnaik aka Raja succumbed to his injuries today at SCB Medical College and Hospital here. He was admitted to the tertiary care hospital last night in a critical condition.
The ill-fated SUV in which Ranjit was travelling turned turtle while he was returning from a stage show in Bhadrak last night.
Ranjit was rushed to the government-run hospital in a critical condition where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
A pall of gloom descended on the glamour industry as the news spread.
Several actors, directors, producers, friends and acquaintances rushed to the hospital to offer their respects to the departed soul.
Post mortem on Ranjit’s body was conducted at SCB Hospital today.
With the untimely demise of the actor, Badamba his native place plunged into grief.
The actor began his career as a choreographer before stepping into the world of acting as an album actor. Later, he accelerated his career to television serials and Ollywood movies where he gathered many accolades for his acting skills.
He has earned a name for himself for his acting in popular television serials like Devi, Uansi Kanya, Rajakanya, Pari and Sehnai.
His character in Ollywood movie Mita Re Mita has left an enduring impression in the viewers’ psyche.
