Bhubaneswar, Nov 29:
Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested a youth on charges of displaying obscene gestures and blackmailing a minor girl at the Dumduma housing board colony here.
The youth identified as Dilu Sahoo (24), a resident of same colony and owner of a mobile phone shop had been absconding for over a week after a complaint was filed against him by the minor girl.
Sahoo, booked under section 294 and 506 of IPC, was produced before the sub divisional judicial magistrate ( SDJM) court here today.
Police said, Sahoo who the victim’s neighbour was threatening to make public some ‘objectionable’ photographs of her that he had managed to click.
A complaint in this regard had been lodged by the minor girl’s family with the Khandagiri police in October this year. Acting on the complaint police had detained Sahoo but released him after a ‘reconciliation’ over the issue.
Sahoo, reportedly, was let off after he had given a written undertaking that he will not misbehave or blackmail the girl any further.
However, Sahoo continued to threaten and blackmail the minor girl even after this and repeatedly ‘showed obscene gestures’ to her.
The mother of the minor girl then decided to seek police help, sources said.
