Now, child dies of Japanese Encephalitis in Odisha’s Puri

Puri, Oct 6:

Almost a month after spreading havoc in Malkangiri district, Japanese Encephalitis today claimed life of a 11-year-old boy hailing from Bengama village at Brahmagiri in Odisha’s Puri, informed district SDMO.


The deceased was identified as Kiran Barik.

According to reports, five children including Kiran were tested positive for Japanese Encephalitis in May this year. He was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on May 19 for treatment.

The condition of the rest four children is stated to be stable after treatment, sources said.

Notably, more than 35 children have died so far in the vector-borne disease in Malkangiri district.
