Commissionerate police today arrested two persons from Pokhariput area in Odisha capital on charges of tender fixing and extortion.
The accused brothers Sushant Dhal Samant (45) and Sushil Dhal Samant (42) were arrested from the city by Choudwar police. Three revolvers, 99 rounds of bullets and Rs 10 lakh were seized from his possession, sources said.
“Sushant Dhal Samant and Sushil Dhal Samant have been arrested by Choudwar police from a house in Pokharipur area in Bhubaneswar,” Twin City Commissioner YB Khurania said.
Police raided the duo’s residence at CDA in Cuttack in which Rs 2.5 crore cash and five luxury cars were seized.
“As many as 13 cases including three murder cases are registered against Sushant Dhal Samant at various police stations in the state and eleven cases are pending against Sushil. The siblings were absconding since 2004 and were staying in cities like Visakhapatnam and Mumbai on fake identities. They were visiting Odisha occasionally,” Khurania added.
Notably, the duo had gained notoriety since 1993-94 and is accused in several murder, attempt to murder, dacoity and robbery cases.
