Jagdish Lal Gugnani, the in-charge of the eastern zone of the Sant Nirankari Mission passed away in a private nursing home in the Odisha capital on Wednesday.
He was 72 and is survived by his wife and two sons. He was ailing for the last few months and breathed his last yesterday evening, family sources said.
Gugnani was a noted philanthropist and social worker who had spread the Nirankari Mission’s work in Odisha to a great extent. He was always at the forefront during times of distress and calamities. Under his guidance, the Nirankari mission has expanded its activities all over the state and now has 550 centres in Odisha.
He had also been the President of the Bhubaneswar Stock Exchange during its formative years.Members of all communities have deeply condoled Gugnani’s death.
