Normalcy returns in western Odisha after 48-hr ‘Maha Bandh’

Sambalpur: After two days of ‘Maha Bandh’ in western Odisha called by the Central Action Committee (CAC) of All Western Odisha Bar Association (AWOBA) over the demand of establishing a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court in the region, normalcy returned today as the bandh came to an end.

Normal life was crippled in western Odisha on November 29 and 30 due the 48-hour ‘Maha Bandh’. However, banks, financial institutions, educational institutions, markets, shops and business establishments resumed functioning normally today bringing sigh of relief for the denizens of the region.

CAC spokesperson Sureswar Mishra said they received overwhelming support from the public during the two days. People supported the agitation despite inconvenience faced by them, he said.
