Puri/Bhubaneswar, May 23:
The proposal for the Nabakalebara of Goddess Laxmi in Shri Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri town this year was set aside at a meeting of the temple managing committee presided over by the Gajapati Maharaja Divyasingha Deb today.
Briefing the media after the meeting, chief administrator of Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said the committee decided to take a final decision in this regard after Nabakalebara Rath Yatra scheduled on July 18 this year.
It may be recalled that Mohapatra, in a media briefing on May 14, had said that the SJTA had suggested the proposal for Nabakalebara of the Goddess this year. Pointing out that portions of the idol have been damaged, the SJTA had made a case for the Nabakalabara of the Goddess.
“The Mukti Mandap Pandit Mahasabha, in its reports to the SJTA, has also recommended the Nabakalebara of Goddess Laxmi,” he had said.
