The air ambulance service from Odisha’s pilgrim town Puri has been cancelled for the duration of the Nabakalebara Rath Yatra in view of the no flying zone restrictions and other curbs during the period.
“The air ambulance service has been cancelled due to the no-flying zone restrictions and other curbs imposed during the Nabakalebara. In case of an emergency, one of the four lanes on the National Highway will be dedicated for the purpose. This lane will be used for carrying patients in ambulances to either Bhubaneswar or Cuttack,” informed chief secretary GC Pati after conclusion of the third review meeting for the Rath Yatra on Friday.
All arrangements have been made by the Health department to provide health care to devotees during the Nabakalebara, health officials said.
“A majority of the 930 doctors and paramedics deployed for Nabakalebara have already arrived in Puri and have begun working. Among them are 290 assistant surgeons and specialists,,” informed Gyanendra Sahu, CDMO, Puri after the meeting.
Besides, it has been decided to use ‘108’ Ambulance services during the Nabakalebara.
