National Human rights commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the Odisha Director General of Police over the suicide of a girl student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Bangore village in Keonjhar district on February 16.
The Commission has instructed the DGP to submit an investigation report within four weeks. It has also asked a DIG level official to apprise them of the development in the investigation so far within three days.
Notably, Priyanka Prusty (14) studying in Class IX on February 16 had committed suicide by jumping from Hadagarh dam. A suicide note was recovered from the spot accusing a teacher and some students of harassing her.
