With National Food Security Act (NFSA) scheduled to be implemented in 14 districts of Odisha in the first phase from November 1 this year, new ration cards under NFSA will be issued to beneficiaries in these districts from Gandhi Jayanti (October 2).
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate distribution of new ration cards to beneficiaries under NFSA at a state level function to be held at the state secretariat here.
Patnaik has directed Ministers to participate at functions at the district level for distribution of the new ration cards.
“As NFSA will be implemented in the state in the first phase from November 1 this year, new ration cards under the Act will be distributed to beneficiaries from Gandhi Jayanti. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate distribution of new ration cards to beneficiaries at a state level programme at the state secretariat here,” Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma told reporters here today.
Instructions have been issued to complete distribution of new ration cards at the panchayat level in the 14 districts of Kandhamal, Angul, Sonepur, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Koraput, Boudh and Deogarh by October 8.
Moreover, it has been decided to complete distribution of new ration cards in the remaining 16 districts by October 31. Distribution on new cards will begin in these districts will begin from October 16, officials said.
