Describing the new export policy as ‘entrepreneur friendly’, MSME secretary Panchanan Das today said entrepreneurs should take advantage of the policy by producing exportable items, looking at the requirement of the market.
Urging the engineering and management students of the state to look at the big picture of entrepreneurship, he said, “Wealth creation stops with jobs and starts with entrepreneurship”.
He was addressing a seminar, “Export- As an Engine for Growth” organised by International Trade Committee, Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI) as part of the National Level Exhibition-cum-Seminar, “Odisha Moves Forward”.
In a presentation at the seminar, Debdutta Nandwani, Deputy Director General, Federation of Indian Export Organisation said, “Out of 100 top exporters in the world, India has only 6 in the top 50”.
“As food processing industry is a major exportable product of the state, the packaging should be of international standard and according to the health standards of the buyers”, she said.
Rajen Padhi, Chairman, International Trade Committee, UCCI chaired the session. He also welcomed the guests to the dais. Other eminent personalities like DK Tomar, Deputy Director General of Foreign Trade, Suresh Chandra Sarangi, Zonal Manager, Bank of India, P. Balkrishnan, Business Development Head, Vishakha Container Terminal Pvt. Ltd., GD Bramha, Chief Operations Manager, East Coast Railways, BK Das, Director, Directorate of Export Promotion & Marketing also made technical presentations and put forward their views on the topic.
Debabrata Das, Secretary, presented the vote of thanks.
A large number of industrialists and trade leaders and management college students attended the seminar.
The exhibition is a part of a series of events organised by UCCI on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee Celebration year. While the Mega Industrial Exhibition is being organised at IDCO exhibition ground, the seminars are being conducted at the UCCI conference hall at Jayadev Vihar.
